Help envision the future of the Hamilton Farmers’ Market! (Engage Hamilton)

By Rachel Fisman-Guarascio, OPIRG McMaster

Although we as McMaster students may be in Hamilton for a relatively short time, we’re still valued members of the broader Hamilton community. And as part of the Hamilton community at large, we have the power to help shape the future of the city. One tool helping students to affect local change is the City’s online public engagement platform, Engage Hamilton. Right now, Engage Hamilton wants your help in envisioning the future of the downtown Hamilton Farmers’ Market   The historic Hamilton Farmers’ Market, dating back to 1837, has undergone considerable changes since its establishment. Along with it, downtown Hamilton and its surrounding neighbourhoods have also undergone massive transformations. Given these significant and ongoing neighborhood changes, the city has asked the Hamilton community for ideas, reflections, and input related to the Farmers’ Market. The City has committed to using public input to direct the future vision and role of the Hamilton Farmers’ Market.   From now (September 2022) until early 2023, you can learn more about the project and contribute your ideas related to the future of the Hamilton Farmers’ Market on https://engage.hamilton.ca/hamilton-farmers-market-visioning-exercise
