Public Interest Projects 2018-2019

The OPIRG Board of Directors has approved our new Public Interest Projects for 2018-2019.

Projects (formerly “Working Groups”) have been redefined to ensure that they are lead by McMaster undergraduates and focus on a particular public interest issue that can be impacted by their actions.

Projects must re-apply annually, and new projects are sought each term through an application process guided by policy.

We had our orientation session for Projects on Saturday, so now the groups are able to continue progressing toward their goals with the support of OPIRG McMaster.

Programming

In this transitional year at OPIRG McMaster, we are developing our Partnership and Programming to capture areas outside the scope of our Public Interest Projects. This is a work that is still in progress, but we are happy to have wonderful people to work with as we move forward.

Global Citizenship Collective is our first real addition to our Programming stream. GCC’s programming experience and success raising awareness among students is going to benefit OPIRG’s ability to deliver valuable resources and awareness. GCC will be helping create content to support student engagement with public interest issues, including a new workshop for students on how to start a campaign.

This is an exciting change under our reorganized model of Projects, Partnerships and Programming.

We will keep you up to date with new developments here on the blog.
