Volunteers make good things happen
Many ways to contribute as a volunteer!
Don’t wait for someone else to take action: get involved with an existing student-led public interest project team. At OPIRG, students define the issues, and OPIRG provides supports to make impactful outcomes possible.
Starting small is standard: each approved project sets their goals and then starts taking strategic action to meet their objectives. Experimentation and innovation need a supportive environment that tolerates risk, and our groups are encouraged to learn through experience, but also by accessing resources that can act as a catalyst for change.
There are many ways students and community can become active citizens through OPIRG. We put volunteers to work on a wide range of tasks, from creating content for our blog to helping staff the Resource Centre. Our general volunteer category is built with students in mind with volunteer gigs to fit neatly into busy schedules.
Build your skills, and your resume, with us while supporting OPIRG McMaster’s mission to support students taking action on important public interest issues.
Our elected nine-member board is responsible for the strategic direction of the organization. Elected each spring at OPIRG’s Annual General Meeting, the board are primarily full-time undergraduates of McMaster with an interest in supporting OPIRG’s Mission, Vision and Values. Using Consensus Decision making, the board oversees the organization from setting strategic direction to staffing.
