OPIRG McMaster staff and working groups participated in a day-long conference “Living the Environment” organized by the Hamilton Community Foundation, OPIRG, and hosted by Mohawk College.
The conference brought student and teacher reps from area high schools together to explore environmental issues.
Each school is eligible to seek funding up to $700 from the Community Foundation to undertake an environmental initiative at their school.
OPIRG working groups participating by giving workshops included Recycle Cycles and Eat Local.
The goal of the day was to inspire innovative and creative propsals from students at high schools. Given the energy level and enthusiasm apparent, this year’s granting season should be interesting and exciting!
OPIRG also contributed a small booklet with ideas for action (soon to be posted as a pdf file)
