Durand Coffee and the 100 in 1 Day planning team are hosing a civic action and urban intervention workshop for the Duran and Kirkendall neighbourhoods on May 9, 6:30pm at Durand Coffee – in order to help residents to prepare for and participate in the annual festival of civic action – 100 in 1 Day Hamilton.

Returning for its third year on Saturday, June 3, 2017, 100In1Day is a global festival of civic engagement and action. Presented nationally by Evergreen and supported on the ground by a diversity of community partners, this free citizen-driven festival invites individuals and organizations find creative, fun, or educational small-scale ‘urban interventions’ they can host within the city on June 3h. By participating on June 3, you will be joining hundreds of others across Canada all making positive change in their communities.

The ‘urban interventions’ we are hoping to see are just simple, low-cost actions that anyone can do with a little bit of help. Last year they included neighbourhood tours, clothing and plant swaps, free yoga in Bayfront Park, and Hamilton’s first Puppy Kissing Booth! These actions should showcase ideas that raise awareness of social or city issues, inspire change, motivate others, or simply to make Hamiltonians smile – it goes a long way!

To help you bring your ideas to life or to brainstorm possible interventions tailored to your mission or vision, the 100in1Day Hamilton team are hosting free workshops across the city.

In Durand and Kirkendall, a session is being held on Tuesday May 9th at 6:30pm – 9:30pm at Durand Coffee.
