Plastic is everywhere. Not only are microplastics found in oceans, but it’s closer to our homes than we think. There is an estimated 22 million pounds of plastic waste found in our Great Lakes, that is threatening the aquatic life. Grocery stores have the authority to reject products from companies that come overly packaged in plastic. Higher action can be taken with laws enacted by the federal government such as Canada’s Strategy on Zero Plastic Waste¬†. In order for these plans to become fruitful, we need volunteers to help create a strong foundation, to campaign against corporations and government on the dangers of plastic waste and demanding sustainable alternatives.
